About Launching ERAT Program

The ERAT Programme launch by Ministry of Health Malaysia took place during World Diabetes Day 2025 to address the rising diabetes challenge. From the start, the initiative aimed to empower patients through education and self-management. In addition, it focused on individuals who struggle to control their blood sugar. The programme also offered structured support under the Diabetes Medication Therapy Adherence Clinics.

Moreover, the new effort involved collaboration with the Malaysian Pharmacists Society and an international partner. This partnership ensured that patients received guidance from pharmacists, nurses, and doctors. The ERAT Programme encouraged regular monitoring and lifestyle changes rather than relying only on medication. As a result, participants could achieve better glycemic control and lower their risk of complications.

Furthermore, experts shared worrying national statistics during the launch. About 3.6 million adults in Malaysia live with diabetes, and many remain unaware of their condition. This situation highlights the urgent need for early screening and continuous care. At the same time, the Ministry of Health committed to expanding the programme in phases to reach more communities.

Therefore, the ERAT Programme during World Diabetes Day 2025 represented a major step in national diabetes control. It raised awareness and encouraged Malaysians to prioritise health literacy and daily self-care. Ultimately, the initiative offered hope and supported a healthier community that can manage diabetes with confidence.
