The Simposium Reformasi Pengurusan Sisa Lestari Tahun 2025 brought together over 600 participants, including government officials, industry leaders, and international experts. Held at the Institut Latihan Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan(I-KPKT) in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, the event emphasized the urgent need for sustainable waste management reforms in Malaysia. Firstly, the symposium highlighted the shift from traditional linear waste disposal towards resource recovery models. This change aims to reduce landfill dependency and promote recycling.

Moreover, the event encouraged adopting clean technologies and smart automation to enhance efficiency. For instance, artificial intelligence applications in waste sorting and smart baling systems featured prominently in the discussions. Additionally, participants explored waste-to-energy solutions to convert waste into valuable resources. Consequently, these innovations align with Malaysia’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 11 and 12.

Furthermore, the symposium stressed community involvement as a crucial element in achieving long-term success. Officials and stakeholders agreed that public engagement supports sustainable practices and reduces waste generation at the source. Ultimately, the event set ambitious targets, including a 15% landfill waste reduction by 2030 and net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
